Through my tour guiding activities at the Brunel Museum, I have been inspired to write a historical crime novel.
This is the pitch for my story:
Enola Holmes X Blood & Sugar
London 1825: Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s sister Emma acts as an amateur sleuth when a body is discovered at the construction site of the Thames Tunnel.
From the moment I started working on this project, I have received a huge amount of support from my fellow tour guides & the staff at the museum. Thanks to them, I was even able to unearth documents about Emma that we did not have in our collection before. It’s very exciting for me to not only use my research for my novel, but also as a contribution to the Brunel Museum.
I have finished the first draft of my novel (working title: Emma Brunel & The Body in the Well) and am currently editing the manuscript. The next step will be to query it to literary agents.
Keep your fingers crossed for me. 🤞
